First Track Day (with video)

Last week I took my 2015 2LT w/RS pack to my local track. I had a blast! Car is 100% stock with 5000mi on it. Only downside was too little heat dissipation. Oil was nearing 270f and trans fluid was over 250 as well. I know oil will function at that level (at cost of reduced oil life) but the trans would start shifting hard. I will have a trans cooler before next season.

Anyways, I got Harry's Lap Timer before hand and brought the go pro with so I could get a baseline lap time and see how I improve over time and with mods.

https://youtu.be/x4ND5sxGn0Q That is the full 20 min session, kinda boring to watch through, and you can tell I slow down due to heat, but it turned out well. 2nd passing lap I go around a guy in a Callway Corvette Grand Sport. Last 2 laps before cooldown lap were my fastest on camera. (I got 2 laps last session that were 3sec faster, but camera was dead)

80? Is that a speed limit at your track for open tops? That sounds like it'll just slow down traffic. I can get 105 at this track with the v6, but the brakes didn't like it much, so i shut it down at 100 until i add brembos.

Looks like a great time on the track!!! I used to do track days on my track bike at Summit Point and NJMP... so much fun! I'd be a little afraid of wrecking my car though What camera/software are you using that shows the MPH and track like that? pretty sweet!

Camera is a GoPro Hero4 shooting at 1080p 60fps. I got my cell phone mounted to my vent running "Harry's Lap Timer" for data logging. Then on my PC, I used RaceRender3 to merge the 2.

Harry's Lap Timer can actually sync to GoPros and give you a similar look, but using RaceRender you can make custom layouts and gauges. I used Photoshop to piece together the custom Camaro style speedometer. I may alter it later, but it looks pretty damn close to me.

You can also add a OBD adapter to get more info like RPMs, current gear, coolant temp, throttle position...
