Kenwood deck or stock Boston Acoustic amp?

Hi all,

Ok I decided on some polks for my front stage. For the time being, should I run them in my kenwood dmx7706s or on the stock Boston acoustics amp. I’ll likely amplify next year but for now I just need to know what’s the best option of the two.

Thanks your your advice.

I went with a set of Rockford Fosgate R1675-S, which ran about $80. There’s a Punch series at $140 but the folks at Crutchfield said these would be fine since I’m running the stock BA amp through a Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX aftermarket radio. So far I’m satisfied with this set up, along with a powered sub.

Thanks for the info. So they recommended having you run the speakers to the BA amp as opposed to the aftermarket radio?

I went Polk bc my intention is to upgrade the amp next spring. 100 watts rms so they can take a bit of power.

They basically suggested just running everything through the aftermarket (PAC) harness through the BA amp, if that makes sense. I ran RCAs from the radio to the sub.

The real question is how loud do you like your front stage? If you crank it up, and you power speakers off of the HU, you run the risk of either blowing the speakers due to HU clipping and/or burning the amp in the HU. The main problem with the OEM trunk amp is that the OEM speakers were 2-ohm, so 4-ohm aftermarket ones can only play half as loud. You might want to get a 100 watt amp for the front speakers NOW.

Thanks. Yeah the car is going to bed for winter in next week or two so I’ll get an amp and install over the winter. Have to research some amps as I’m going to add a sub as well. Gonna try to keep it a budget build if possible.

Thanks!
