I dunno, I find the back and forth pretty entertaining.

Then again, I don't really get too partisan about the intercompany rivalry nonsense. Just because GM's my favorite of the big three, doesn't mean I can't appreciate it when Ford or Dodge do something well. I'm looking forward to seeing the side by side comparison Mr. Pobst's tweets alluded to.

I really rather hope the GT350's wind up doing well. It raises the bar for GM's 6th gen competitor. If it causes a moment of concern for the Camaro engineering team, a "it's going to be tricky to accomplish, better give this some real thought," moment, then we're the beneficiaries.

Then again, I look at a lot of the metrics coming out of these tests as goals to shoot for with my own car.

The '16 R has earned respect to enter the ballpark of older model Z/28 / 911 territory for sure, but even their "prototype" models have been found lacking at the pro level.

I don't know you and you have absolutely no clue of my training and experience. If you need some professional statistic, Stevenson smoked the R's this year with their Z/28's de-tuned and effectively running in limp mode. Try performing some of your own basic research and offer a useful counter opinion before attacking me.
You must have missed the opening races the Continental Tire Sports Challenge Championship Series with the debut of GT-350R. Memory serves after a couple of races, it was quickly detuned and they added some weight to the car, to try and level the playing field, just like they they did with the Z/28.R! Where they played with the restrictor, added weight, and raised the car. Looking forward to the racing next year. Congrats to Stevenson Motorsports and thank you . It was still hard racing, looking forward to next year.

[QUOTE=Snoman;8686854]Right? So much fun when Ferarambo owners come to our Camaro forum to discuss how track capable they think their son's future Ford model is trying to competing against a 5 year old Camaro.

GM generally supports current products for Showroom Stock. Next year could see the debut of the 6th Gen Camaro. Now, it will be a little smaller and lighter! Am I speculating on someones son's future Chevy model?

I think people are confused, there saying the GT350 beat the Z/28.. Its the GT350R that beat the Z/28. The GT350R is the track package, the normal GT350 cannot beat the Z/28.

Love the car though, flat plant crank thats amazing.

Just word of mouth really. Theres been a few mentions of the GT350 with the track being quite close with the z/28 while the 350R is a few seconds faster.

Considering there's a few seconds between a Z/28 and C7 Z51, think the split will be the same between GT350TP and Z/28.

We don't really know yet what the 350R can consistently do vs the Z28 until mags put them in direct vs. comparisons. 350R no doubt means business but the Z28 is one hell of a track car. I would still take the Z28 even if a tick slower. 6th Gen Z28....well, Ford better hurry with the GT500.

Although neither car is remotely close to realization... they're not the ones to compare.

GT350R: carbon fiber wheels result in 60lbs of unsprung rotating weight reduction vs the aluminum wheels. That is truly massive in terms of getting the car rolling.
