Mrs. GearheadSS's LT1 journey

Figured I might as well start a journal of the car that I'm getting for my wife(and me too lol ). It's kinda funny that my wife has had more 6th gens as her daily than I have. This will be #3 for her!

Let me start off by saying that I have been planning for a few years now to order a final year LT1 or SS for us to keep forever. Once I heard Riptide Blue was coming, I was pretty sure that was the color for us. The CE was also on the table because my wife really likes black Camaros.

GM killing GM employee pricing and raising the price on the 2024s kind of threw a massive wrench into my plan. So, we talked about it and decided that it was probably best to get a 2023 instead, mainly because of the price difference.

So, I only had 1 more 2023 Camaro ordered and thankfully it was an LT1 equipped just how she wanted it(except that her first choice was Riverside Blue). Specs below.

It went to 3800 status on 8/1 and 4200 status on 8/2. Should hit my local railyard today. I'm going to go pick it up myself from the railyard, hopefully tomorrow or Monday.

I've already ordered a bunch of parts to give the LT1 a little more of an aggressive look.

Katzkin leather in black/red

GM gloss black 1LE spoiler

Gloss black 1LE splitter

Red knee pads

Passender dash panel with red stitching

Console lid with red stitching

Still trying to decide on wheels. I really want the MRR FS06 in either matte black or gunmetal. I also love 1LE wheels so I might try to get a set of takeoffs. Not in a huge hurry for wheels......yet.

Oh and I pre-ordered a new plate. I had planned on this one for the 2024 but I guess it will work on the 2023 too.

It can be lol. I didn't really order this one with my wife in mind but I tend to order Camaros how I personally like them. I definitely would have ordered this in Riverside Blue, Vivid Orange or Sharkskin if I was ordering it me. My wife's 2nd favorite color is black so it just kinda worked out in her favor.

Congrats GearheadSS! Sounds like a great build.

I’d hold out for real 1LE wheels over the knockoffs IMO.

For sure. Takeoff OEM 1LE wheels can be had for about the same money as new replicas so I would go that route before buying replicas. I should probably just see how much my cost is on new ones here at work.

Congrats Jeff!!!

+1 on OEM 1LE wheels, they’re the sexiest wheels right now 😁 I wish GM had them in ZLE sizes…

Very nice GearheadSS! I like where you are heading with this one, especially the interior. I say go for the 1LE wheels too!

Sounds like a great build! I also scrapped my plans to order a '24 Riptide Blue LT-1. With the price increase, lack of incentives, and sky-high interest rates, I just couldn't justify replacing my '22 Satin Steel LT-1 with under 3K miles.

Thanks! I wanted to more red inside but my wife vetoed that! This red stitching and wings on the seats was the compromise.

I don't blame you at all. I wouldn't either. Satin Steel is such a great color too!

Very nice, glad you’ve got it in before those 2024 prices

I’ll go ahead and give another endorsement for OEM 1LE wheels, they’re a world of a difference from my old SS wheels imo

I too looked up up some names for custom plates and surprisingly “1LE 2SS” is available, but then I found out Texas does subscription based plates

Wheels should be here on Tuesday. MRR FS06 in carbon flash but in Camaro ZL1 size (wheels pictured below are the correct color but are C8 size). Now I just need them to load the damn car up and deliver it.

Those are going to look perfect and sit perfect with the ZL1 spec. Good choice!
