I would say that it is definitely not an essential piece. I have one but I only got one after I had all the other main pieces to the puzzle.

Sooo this time I am getting my backing plates 3.5 and 5. Two sets of 4 in orange/white hex logic pads and 5 in too. Grit guard x 2. Meguiars M21/26. All from amazon with prime.. Gotta love amazon. And from car pro. Glass polishing pad and towels. Lots of them.. Lol

Yea I honestly say to take those 50 dollars and apply it towards some quality microfiber and other things first. Some people might disagree with me but like I said that is how I feel about it.
