Camshaft Swap
I'm working on rounding up parts for my cam swap and I have a few questions for those that have done it in the LT4 cars.
Current mods on the car are 18% lower, Rotofab intake, 1 7/8'' American racing long system, and tune. in the heat we made right at 630 to the tires. I'm going to go with a GT35 from Lingenfelter , I had there GT12 in my last car and had no complaints, car made good power and had excellent drivability. There's a ton of info out there on LS of course , but I'm not finding the answers I'm looking for on a few things on the LT4. 1. I know I need a phaser limiter so I'm good there. 2. what's every one running for springs , pushrods, are they the same as LS? 3. timing chain seams to be the same as LS correct? 4. I know the ZL1's don't have AFM or DOD , but for some reason quiet a few folks are showing delete kits for these cars , am I missing something ? 5. seams like the best option is to pull the motor on the engines, why I have it out has any one ported the blower? 6. oil pump I have always upgraded the pump to a hi volume in the LS engines , is there a need for that in the LT motors ? 7. what else am I missing ? |

Ask your Cam Manufacturer and they'll tell you what the valve spring specs should be along with the recommended valvetrain. IMHO, I'd pull the motor for the swap. I'm too old for bending over all day/night, then when you drop a 2MM part down the motor when bent over you won't yell as much..lol |
