Difference in exhaust sound between A10 and M6?

I recently traded my '21 A10 SS for a new custom '23 M6 SS, and I've noticed a significant difference in the exhaust sound between the two.

The '21 had a much higher-pitched "braaap" under acceleration, and the '23 has a deeper, rumblier sound that is much nicer. It's a lot closer to the sound of my old '14 M6 SS.

I was actually really surprised (and pleased) at the difference, because they're both second-flight 6th-gens, both with NPP, so the actual engine and exhaust systems I would have expected to be identical between them.

Does which transmission is in there make any difference from an exhaust sound perspective? The only difference I can think of is there's no AFM in the M6, but I wouldn't expect that to make a difference when you're accelerating in V8 mode.

Did I just luck out with this '23 and get one that's deeper than normal, or was my '21 an outlier with it's ricer-fartpipe sound?

I would say it is different loads on the engine. I converted one of my 91 Z28s from automatic to manual many years ago and the exhaust note changed significantly. It did not even sound like the same car under acceleration.

The m6 burbles more than the a10, makes it sound more hot roddy, if you will. You have more control though, so driving choices can entirely eliminate it if you so desire.

Bingo, the load created by the torque converter will alter the sound vs a manual.

That all makes sense. I even notice a difference at idle, though, so I didn't think load was the only factor.

I noticed the change when I went from an A8 to a M6.
