Cat deletes and BBK shortys
i recently installed the 1 3/4 BBK shorty headers with the JBA Offroad midpipes(catless)and sounds beastly and goes really well with the SLP Loudmouth 2 axlebacks!
just some questions that i would like to get answered. is the TQ moved up higher in the powerband? it seems like its smoother, or slower at low rpms, but i look at the speedo and it picks up mph at a faster rate.. and do i need a tune to get the best out of this setup? i went with shortys because i live in cali so i can just swap the offroad pipes and but the stock cats back on. i got a friend that can pass me on the smog and the shortys were bought at a low!! low! price. so i couldnt pass them up.. thanks for the replies |

I would tune, Optomize those mods you have. Im curious to see what you get, I just did cat deletes and my dyno came close to people with long tubes. Wonder if shortys provide anything. I was hesitant on the purchase. Planning to use the money towards a vvt cam.

Yes, decreasing back pressure with larger pipes or removal of cats will cause your torque curve to move up in RPMS.
Yes, a tune with any modification will help to get the most out of the mod. Now get you a CAI, tune, and move out of California and you will be on the right track to make some good power numbers.

Yea. You're gonna move the torque higher in the range. And yea, tune that sucker!

I don't think your gaining that much with your mods to be honest with you. A tune will help a Lil bit. But if you are willing to tune why didn't you get the Lt's for some real gains!

Yah i am surprised myself! I think maybe not sure tho, it was because i had all the fluid changes before the dyno run ..diff oil change, trans change ,and oil change. The dyno run was done on a dyno day so a bunch of other cars went before me.. I was on right after a mustang it put out 260 whp so i dont know if all those cars that got on before me messed up the calibration or something.. There was a 11 camaro with a similar setup. muffler deletes, a cold air induction intake, and was a manual trans like mine. He put out 388whp so a 10 hp diffrence !? You think its too far off to be a miscalculation or the car is a factory freak? Ill tell u this though on the street i beat 13 mustangs by a car and a half, (friend of mine) with intake and a tune!
So idk about my car! |
