Just placed my $1000 down, waiting for Chevy to accept my build, what now?

Well I'm completely new to American cars, I've been in the market for an M2 Comp for over 6 months now, but they are so overpriced I've given up. Finally was able to get over my biases against american cars and have been surprised by the 1SS 1LE, what an amazing car for the money. Better in almost every way to cars that are 20k more.

Anyways like the title says I put money down and currently waiting for the dealership to contact me back about chevy accepting the build. Anyone been through this process recently, what was your experience like?

On 10/29 I also put $1K down on a 1SS 1LE order.

11/22 I was contacted and told Chevy accepted the order.

No change since.

That's what.

Great choice

Did your dealership give you any indication on how many allocations they’re expecting, based on previous sales? I’d hate for you to have $1000 tied up at a dealership that might not get any allocation… ever

No they did not, I had no idea this was even a thing. I'll have to give them a call and ask.

Yeah make sure you do that. In my case, my sales associate at my local dealership was pretty clueless about the process, but only because of what I learned on this awesome forum, I knew that they needed an allocation. There are people on this forum who have had orders in for months and have yet to receive an allocation, so don't be one of those unlucky souls. If your current dealership can't get an allocation, find one that can. My dealership did not require a down payment either, so that might be worth looking into as you research dealerships. Good luck.

Did you consider checking inventory using Chevrolet's website, for comparable cars already in stock? You might be able to avert a LONG wait if you're willing to travel.

I found 1SS 1LEs to be fairly plentiful, but 2SS 1LEs, not so much... Is your build special or are you picky in any way? Dealer saying your deposit is non-refundable?

Anyway, just a thought... Mine is a 2SS 1LE but you can see my timeline in my signature. I didn't get any options that have been constrained though, like the PDR... Just a sunroof.

Oh, and don't let any place sell you over MSRP... Almost all of the dealerships trying to give me a hard sell about paying 2K or more over MSRP have since called me back ready to sell at MSRP. That includes a brand new ZL1 in California. I think they smell what's coming, because production picked up dramatically the last few weeks...

Agree with all the advice given so far. I must confess I was also tempted by the M2 Comp for a while but especially now they've stopped making them until the new model comes out next year, prices are just crazy but I feel really good about going back to the Camaro (I had a 2016 2SS before that I always regret selling).

My story is similar to others in that I made sure my name was known to all the local dealers and I kept insisting that I was ready to deal as soon as they got an allocation. Some pushed back and simply wanted me "on their list" which effectively means status 1100. I only started this process in earnest around a month ago and 10 days ago my closest dealer called and said they had 2 x allocations for a 1SS. My preference was (and is) still 2SS but given the current constraints I've decided the 1SS 1LE still has all the core that I want and true to their word, I put my deposit down on the Friday and by Monday I was at status 3000 so things move well once you have the all seeing & all powerful allocation....

If the dealer you ordered from has an allocation can it still take time to be accepted by Chevy? I only ask as my dealer told me he had an allocation for a ZL1 but its been at 1100 status for the last 5 weeks. Or does it just take time in line with all the other orders across the country.

Sure can, if the order contains items on constraint. PDR has been infamous about that.

Due to constraints yes, but the dealership should be aware of those and give you the option to change the constrained item(s). Otherwise… they’re lying

Thanks all!
I sent an email to the dealer to follow up on my concerns. I asked all those questions at the time of order and was told they had 3 Camaro allocations and 1 of those for a ZL1 and there were no constraints with my order. I'll see what they say.

Well, this escalated quickly. I found exactly what I was looking for at a Virginia dealership. Went ahead and put money down and booked my flight. Pending the money gets wired to my account by tomorrow I should be driving home almost exactly the build I wanted(5 hours) minus black lug nuts(who cares lol). Canceled my $1000 deposit at the other dealership.
