Activision Axes Guitar Hero

Activision Axes Guitar Hero
Today Activision Blizzard announced that it will "disband Activision Publishing's Guitar Hero business unit" due to the declining interest in the music genre. The company has ceased development on its previously planned 2011 Guitar Hero game.

DJ Hero is gone as well as Tony Hawk to focus on the CoD series! Let's hope the next CoD is done right. Been a long time fan of GH as well as RB. GH lost me after Metallica however.

Kinda fitting though when they release a new GH every 9 months or so. People start to get bored playing the same thing with new songs!

I would have to say that also many realized it was dumb taking so much time to learn to play a fake guitar. [south parked mocked it well, with the GH acoustical version play off]

The recent ones that can use a real guitar came to late and don't teach enough still yet.

All the early fas of GH done bought a $100 metal guitar at walmart n bought a tablet book.

GH should be like a easy tablet system, simple easy to catch on for dummie who don't want to learn "music", just play 2 string 80s rock songs that can impress a girl over the age of 12

It’s the whole video game industry now, make a game then lay off staff. I am glad I got out of the industry, I loved making games but hated the “are we now next on the chopping block” we had to go through after a title shipped.

I feel bad for that team and all the people who have been and are getting laid off.

Funny, that reminds me exactly of the CoD formula...

No surprise, how could they compete against Rock Band with their weekly downloadable songs.

They killed it themselves buy requiring people to buy new sets of plastic guitars (that would break) with each version. They were fun but they milked that cow dry. Rock Band really did a better job and stole it's thunder. Even that can't last much longer.
