Padre SS proved the JBA shorties and catted mids work well with his 620rwhp with his auto car and running 10's all day.

If you live in Cali thats one thing but if you dont have those same type of emmision testing that CA uses then there is no reason not to get LT's if your going to tune anyway. If I lived in CA I think I would spring for the ARH shorties because I think those are the only GM state headers that actually show a measurable gain.
Yeah, but they cost so dang much for 10 hp.

First off. I had Solo's on my car for a while... even wrote up a DIY for this site. I was entertaining the idea of shorties just because the stock manifold mates to the HFC midpipes so terrible. I only said what I said because these threads end up being confusing to newbies when it's NOT complicated at all. I bought mine because the warranty (which I shall keep) is built into the price of the car... might as well use it. Just my opinion though.

I read through that thread while I was on jury duty today. He has LTs now.

Not if you do it from the beginning (which is why I think these people chime in.. to prevent a possible mistake). LTs are probably cheaper overall if you go with the Solo midpipes.

Maybe some people are needling you guys, maybe it's just a hurried oversight. You all ought to treat your fellow camaro owners with a little more respect.

Padre does have JBA 1 7/8" long tubes now but he will tell you it's ONLY because he is doing more CI in the future. Some do JBA shorties because they have to stay 50 State legal and many states are starting to adopt CARB so watch out.

Yeah I hear ya. I'm a little jealous. I'd love to stroke mine, but alas... it'll be a long while before anything like that happens. I was very happy with the performance gains from the Solo midpipes. They just never felt installed well to me. I figured some standard-flange shorties would solve my OCD.

Fortunately for me... if they went CARB in Kansas... half the population would be in violation immediately. I can't imagine the nightmare that would be to implement.

Out of curiosity, and completely off subject, but how does CA handle classic cars? Do you just not have to do inspections on old cars?

My solos didn't mate up any better to My BBK shorties, especially on the passenger side. They were actually more of a pain to install due to the bolt clearance..

CA has a cut off date (which i cant remember) cars before a certain year are smog exempt. I think its pre 75'ish. so ya older cars are skies the limit when it comes to running whatever they want for the most part. There are also smog exempt counties here in cali. some lucky people register their address there smog once then never smog again. But those places are out in the sticks. just goes to show smog is nothing more than a money grabbing issue.

Well that is good to know. Thanks for the info. My passenger side was always the problem with the factory manifolds too. I never did figure out EXACTLY what the deal was.

I figured that was the case. That would be a can of worms. If they weren't there in the first place, then they can't be removed OR relocated. It seems so silly. Everyone knows that the major source of pollution isn't passenger cars. Power plants and commercial shipping. Why not just target the offenders? ...because there's no volume, and therefor, no $$$.

Hah. Well stated.

I also agree with you about loudness. I took my Solo's off for exactly that reason. Once I did the muffler delete, the Solo's pushed my car to the level of obnoxious.

Let me clarify that...

It's my DD.
I like my neighbors.
I'm not a dick... well not usually anyways
