It's open with a mesh screen attached. Rear heat extractors are functional as well.

Hate to be one of those guys making one of these posts... But I just ordered MPD Zforce hood in mid December... I would have picked up yours in a heartbeat... Been in the market for over a year and a Few weeks after I buy a hood you post this... I like this because it is a similar design to the MPD but this is about stock height
