Jeremy Clarkson Names ZR1 as Car Of The Year!!!!

"With a light touch on the brakes, run the revs up a bit. Slip off the brake and bury the throttle. There's a light chirp as tires scratch for bite. Then comes a sub-5.0-second sled ride to 60 mph. A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

he had way too much 'factual' fun and was way too surprised by that car to not give it top honors.

I thought this was a Camaro forum, not a GM nutswinger forum. Granted, the ZR1 is an awesome piece of machinery but its a car that is only within the grasp of a very, very few folks. Besides, while I enjoy Mr. Clarkson's show from time to time and appreciate his driving skill, I still think his bias toward European cars shows up way too often to be considered an objective opinion.
Here's a fun question, what do you think he will say about the new Camaro when he finally gets a turn behind the wheel of a production car? Last edited by garagelogic; 12-30-2008 at 09:24 AM. |

Aye it's not a big deal because the whole show is partial humor and fun.
But I think he will like the Camaro 5 just fine. GM would be wise to send them a couple once the line starts for some tube time. |

I'm confident Clarkson will love the Camaro. He gushed over the Vauxhaul VXR8, the British cousin to the G8, built on the Zeta platform, and the Camaro rides on an evolution of that platform. I'm sure he'll have something to gripe about, and he'll gripe in the most entertaining and insightful way possible.

Why is it, when I am on this forum, I always have to reiterate that I like the Gen 5 (and will be looking to purchase one in the near future) as much as I like the '67-'69 versions and have no loyalty to any specific car brand/model? |
