Modern factory cats cause very little reduction in hp. Why get rid of them to gain an amount of power you cannot even perceive?

OP is going with a Whipple, and the cats can cause a problem in FI applications. Removing my cats in a whipple application yielded 23rwhp, after re-tuning for the cat delete.

The rear cats don't restrict much...The front cats are where the bottle neck is. Look how much smaller the diameter of the pipe is between the front cats and the factory header flange is. It necks down under 2". You gain about 10-12whp removing them on a NA car and I wouldn't be surprised if you see over 20whp on a low boost setup.
