Wheel and tire coverage?

Is it worth getting?

If you did get it how much did you pay for it?

I think it was 1200.00 and well worth getting....a wheel is 500 (chrome) and if the tire went too.....I think it also covers your windshield of rock cracks too- I think

Does that cover small damage on the rim or only serious damage where the wheel needs to replaced. I don't foresee myself causing major damage but want that protection in case I accidentally curb the rim (which hopefully never happens)

I paid about $350 for 3 years. It covers tires and wheels.

I have had some experience with run flat tires on my Mercedes ML. Regardless of what the manufacture claims are, if you have a issue with the tire and have to limp to a shop for repair, they will tell you the tire is junk and you are looking at the cost of replacing it. I have never agreed that insurance is a good value except in the case of a run flat tire.

I work at a BMW dealership in northeastern Illinois selling BMWs and MINIs. We have plenty of crummy roads and potholes around here and we sell a lot of cars with pricey alloy wheels and low profile run flat tires. About a quarter to a third of our customers get the tire and wheel warranty. I personally put it on my wife's 335xi and she went through 2 tires and one wheel, so it paid for itself. I also put it on my 535xi but haven't made a claim yet, so it is just insurance. Value all depends on how you feel about having some type of insurance on your tires and wheels vs. being OK with a good sized out of pocket if the worst happens. I am OK with it; not everyone is. - Bob

Thanks for all the good info, would like to find out more about what other members have spent on the coverage. My baby should be here in a week or so.
