So.. this turned political really quickly!

Yes.. I was just saying I don’t want to mess up the seat.

I can’t carry appendix as my handguns that I normally daily are on the bigger side. Ie.. Glock 30, H&K vp9 sk, colt cup 1911 (sometimes), PPQ etc... the smallest one I own is a PPS and I barely carry it.

I’m thinking about doing a magnet setup, does that end up scratching the slide?

Anything rubbing can cause scratching <--- as I am sure you are aware. There are ways to mitigate everything. The problem I have with magnets is they can catch trash and really cause problems.

I had aprevious car that my 1911 did damage the upholstery and I can't remember if it was cloth or leather but the mag and grip damaged the seat. That was at a time that I would conceal a OWB kydex 5" 1911.
I've since moved more IWB with a Sig P365XL or an M18 and I simply keep my shirt over it so it's not exposed to the seat. Ive had no damage to the seat the last ~5 years of cars.

But I do stress on your body I believe is the best place for it but everyone needs to do what they're comfortable with. Because of where I work I have to be very careful of what I carry and where it's at on my body.

On person is best, but normally passenger seat if solo or sometimes around the shifter, (A10)

I try to explain it to people who frown or question why i carry, not that i advertise, to me concealed means concealed.

Do you wait until you have a fire in your house before you buy a Fire Extinguisher?

It better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

You guys who carry a 5" 1911 and sit down in your cars are nuts. I couldn't imagine carrying my TRP in my car. I can barely feel comfortable sitting down in it with my XD9 3" or my 29SF.

When I carried the 5" 1911 it was OWB at ~3 O'Clock which sits better than IWB on my body but it wasn't recaro's either that I tried to cram in to. Its either muzzle in my hip or beavertail in my rib cage so I've kind of moved away from the gun for carry.

Yea, 1911 full size is kinda hard. In Missouri I'd carry my Kimber pro CDP, 4in barrel IWB or OWB. You're lucky to live in Missouri so you really don't have to worry about concealed carry. Here in FL I must have it concealed so it's mouse guns for me. I prefer OWB for comfort level, but since moving to FL it's hard to do since I'm wearing t shirts most of the year.

I remember in South County I carried my Kimber and my shirt blew up from the wind one day and my Kimber was exposed as I was walking into QT. Two county cops walked by and saw it and didn't say a word to me lol. FL that would be arrest.

I thought that was what that tiny backseat was for! Hell a .38 in a pelican case fills the whole seat!

That’s not totally true anymore. Florida state legislature enacted protections for this now. Accidental or unknowingly brandishing a concealed weapon is now no longer an offense.

On my passenger seat while I'm driving. I do like the idea of the passenger seat back pocket.

True, but the sheriff in my county is Republican BUT hates open carry, campus carry and overall isn't pro gun yet people keep voting for him. Over here it would get called in due to all the new englanders around here.

Key word is accidentally. A full size 1911 in a OWB and only wearing a light t shirt you'd have to plea your case.

A couple years ago I found out detectives from the sheriffs office would go to local gun shops wanting the names of people they sell guns to.

Doesn’t matter. No one is going to take our guns, and 2021 is already off to a horrible start. I’m not going add to the lunacy.
