Iroc-Z or Z-28?

If you could only choose one for Chevy to bring back for a mass production which would you choose and what Upgrades would each have?

Hmmm...man...I'd say either one with the primary upgrade being the LT5(755Hp/755TQ), then some carbon ceramic brakes and carbon fiber wheels. Make EVERY color they ever had available for the Camaro to pick from and add a bunch of interior options instead of the LIMITED things you can currently choose from. That's a START at least.

IROC. LT6. 6-speed only, No A/C, no radio, no power seats, no back seat, crank windows and only the minimum amount of safety equipment so the car could be street legal. ZLE suspension and brakes. Only 3 colors available: Red, white or blue.
A car that says let's hit the track!
Never gonna happen.

Z28 with the new 5.5 flat plane V8, 6 speed manual, Recaro seats and interior similar to a ZL1!

According to which decade Z28 you are talking about. My 1993 Z28 was a base V8 and the SS was the loaded V8 Camaro.

Well I had a 1987 IROC that was nothing but problems starting at day one until I got rid of it 11 years later. Leaking T-tops, 1st gear almost gone in the 5 speed trans and 3 engines. The 3rd engine was a rebuilt 350 out of truck using all the TPI parts off the 305 including roller cam. The main problem back in 1995 when I had it done was getting a prom/chip programmed to run the engine. Finally got a Jet Stage 2 prom for a 305 that ran okay. Oh I almost forgot about the bad paint job from the factory. Was repainted under warranty but it starting peeling off after 2 years of repaint.

So I guess you're a "no" vote on the IROC.

IROC, the Z28 was never really consistent. When they first came out they were the top performance model, then in the 4th gen it was just a package, the SS was the top end. Then in the 5th gen it was a pure track car gutted out.

I just hope we don't get a Camaro EV CUV here in a few years. I'd rather it just die off than come back as an CUV.

I would go with Z28 with a bump in horsepower from the LT1 to around 480-500 hp.

'just a package'

no the Z28 was the top performance model on the 4thgen until they brought the SLP Z28SS in house in 1998. At which point they softened the Z28 suspension so you had to pay $3,500 extra for the SS to get the same cornering power that the 93-97 Z28's had.

i don't expect there will be either again, but certainly not an IROC. the last one was built in December 1989 when they lost the contract for the race sponsorship.
