I did this back in 2011 on my 2010 2SS.

I don't have all the list here at work but what I can remember:

Whipple
Rotofab CAI
LT's with full exhaust
LS7 Cam
MSD coils
Different lifters and springs
3000 stall
DSX tuning
Drag Radials

Just under 14k for all back then.

Would run 10.1 all day long
628hp it was a beast but would not handled like a boat compared to today!

Sure, you can make a 2SS faster in a straight line for around $10-15k. But it will no longer have a valid drivetrain warranty, and it doesn't have the other things a ZL1 gets, including fully forged internals (in addition to many other upgrades to the engine), stronger drivetrain, and all the suspension/chassis upgrades, magnetic dampers, Recaros, forged wheels, huge brakes, eLSD, completely different front end (from the a pillars forward), etc. Getting a 2SS 1LE brings many of those performance enhancements (but not the stronger drivetrain, forged internals, or bodywork), and is $16k cheaper than a ZL1. By the time you add a supercharger and supporting mods to a 2SS 1LE you're nearly at ZL1 money, but still have an SS 1LE valued car with no drivetrain warranty. To me it's not worth supercharging a 2SS 1LE because you've spent ZL1 money but don't have a ZL1 to show for it.
I both agree and disagree with this. As someone who is waiting for his 2ss 1le to be built I decided to go this route because with the 15/16k saved I can eventually do a heads/cam build and make slightly more than zl1 stock power. A heads cam car for me is much more fun to rip around the road course than a supercharged car. I’m not saying I’ll do this, but if I decide I want more power I can either swap to a zl1 or do a heads cam build. Also the 2020+ front end actually grew on me and I like it more know. The 16-18 and zl1 front end I find to be a bit dated now. Looks are subjective of course but they were a big reason I went with a 2023 2ss 1le over a zl1.

Nah, Jim, your SS is massively brutal, a stock ZL1 would be nowhere near that, so you'd be trading much for that boooring, issue-free ownership . The kind of power you are laying down I've only felt in heavily modded ZL1s. Don't let the snags get to you

Is this where I stand up in front of everyone and say: “My name is Josh, and I’m a speedaholic”?

No worries my man! I drive really tame on the street as it’s just not worth the hassle or danger of messing around. I’m too old for that crap haha. This car really needs the strip to cut loose… proper traction, no traffic, and barriers to keep things in line.

Problem is he sold the boat and, as internet wisdom has it, the rear seat of the Camaro (especially the vert) is just a glorified shelf

I have had a 2.9 Whipple installed on my 2016 SS since 2019. I paid around 10k at the time, and that included the Whipple kit, LPE HPFP, LT4 injectors, LT4 tank pump, JMS booster, AEM wideband, LT5 throttle body, dyno tune(which I ended up completely retuning myself). It also had a standard Rotofab. It made right at 600whp @ 8psi on Full E. That was in 5th gear on drag radials. No engine mods, all stock internals. It ran 10.7 @ 132-133 full weight on stock 20" wheels with a 305/35/20 555r.

I then installed a Big gulp intake and 103mm tb, swapped the stock X pipe out for a Borla resonated that deleted the AFM valve section in the exhaust. That combined with dropping down from a 3.5 to 3.25 pulley required me to mix the E down to 40%. That got me down to 10.5 @ 135.

Last year I found a lightly used set of XDI +30 injectors and installed them. Now I can run E60 again and get all my timing. That netted 10.5 @ 137mph with a soft 1.8 60ft. The car won't launch any better on this tire, so ET only improved a slight amount, but I picked up decent amount on trap speed... so it's making the power. I am sure on a full drag pack with the car track prepped it would run considerably quicker. Either way it's plenty of power for the street. It hasn't given me any issues at all since I have done the mods.

As I have said a blue million times in the past. If you are going to Supercharge a LT1 with stock compression and internals, it needs octane. Ethanol is the best thing you can do for these motors. You can't run any timing on 93 with boost on this engine unless its cold. It might make 580-600whp on 93 cooled down at the dyno, but on the street up to temp it will be pulling timing. Now you are only making 500whp. This is what most do not understand. Often times shops will give it the timing on a dyno to make a number then pull back the timing and increase the IAT vs spark retard thresholds to keep it alive on the street.

What that means is: On the dyno, with 93 octane, You can make around 600whp safely. On the street it can make about 480-520whp safely.

Switch to a Ethanol blend for fuel, Now you can make that same 580-600whp that it previously dyno'd on 93 all the time... On the dyno, on the street, or on the track it will make that power. And you can push it a bit higher if you like. I agree with Katech Mike that around 700whp is the limit for a stock internal LT1 if it's running E85.
