Yeah, I'm guessing the deal I saw posted wasn't the best.

I just did the USSA Deal on goodyears

$1,033.29 After install taxes, fees and all.

still get $100 mail in rebate so $933.29

If use a Goodyear credit card, another $100 rebate = $833.29.

was thinking to go Michelin p4s but looking at another 6 or 7 hundred for those, so I took this deal.

Looks like you're within $5 of what I paid. I'm not interested in another CC though.

Get the card, buy the tires, pay off the balance, close the account.

I have done that twice now with big ticket purchases this year. If you have good credit, there are cards out there that offer $200-$400 cash back if you spend so much in the first 3 mths.

I did that with my new tv and now just got a new cash reward card for the upcoming tires.

When I am finished, I will pay them off and close them.

Not sure yet, my install is July 6th, I never even knew there was a date on tires.

so now i'm curious, what's the deal with DOT dates? What's the concern, that they are old? And then i guess, how old is too old? these Tires only came to exist in 2017 so they can't be that old?

Tires start to break down once released from the mold, depending on conditions a tire can dry rot or harden in a number of years even in storage, never mounted.
The tire/automotive industry is still working on a reasonable expiration date, earlier I heard they were considering five years, last I heard they were discussing eight years.

Heat cycles, UV exposure and other factors accelerate the tires decay, and rubber formulas also play into this.

I think it was determined Paul Walkers accident involved older tires with reduced grip due to decay/hardening.

I don't know the DOT on these tires, but I know I could sure feel the difference going from the original tires with just over 17K miles on them to brand new rubber.

How are you getting that price? I just linked to Goodyear from USAA and they are $1,180 ($1,080 with the rebate) shipped to installer and mounted. Discount Tire has them at $1,180 as well. Would love to spend less than $900. That is a steal!

Mine was $1028 and some change. I bought hazard insurance for $40. Less the $100 rebate that sets me back $968.

Could your difference be due to shipping where you are? Do they have expensive disposal fees or high taxes or something? That's a $152 difference, pretty big.

I refreshed by browser cache and relinked to USAA. That did the trick! $924 after the $100 rebate.
