Anyone came across some Z28 carbon ceramic brakes on a ZL1

I've seen some Z28 complete brake set ups for as low as 3000 so it's definitely considerable. I would love to see some powder coated red on a ZL1

I would like to see that too. I would buy that for $3000 if they fit.

Pretty sure I seen one from the SEMA pics people were posting but not 100% sure. I'll check around and see if I just imagined this

Hey RH, thanks for the pictures, is that your ZL1? What happened to the oem wheels and why isn't the entire caliper painted?

Yes. Nothing, just not on car. I didn't have the calipers powdercoated (yet) so I put on some vinyl I had and ordered some ebay decals.

Ok awesome!!! The huge rotors really fill in the wheels! Looks sick. Can't wait to see them powder coated. Love the black vert btw, I plan on picking on up in the next few weeks.

So are these just calipers and rotors or what else did it take. I'm wondering if it just bolts up?

I used Z/28 calipers, rotors, pads, front brake lines and rear caliper bolts. Front caliper bolts are the same.

What did the conversion cost?

Have anyone else with a ZL1 converted to Z28 Carbon Rotors and brake calipers? Is it just a straightforward exchange, rotors calipers and a brake bleed? I got a call from a salvage yard letting me know that they have a Z28 with 8600 miles, I am going to purchase all four complete brake assembles if they are in good condition for the weight saving and brake dust elimination.

I know of a zl1 owner in Texas put Z28 carbon rotor brakes on. I have both and I would never change ZL1 nor Z28 brake setup. That’s just me. They both do fantastic at what they were designed for.

But why though? All you need is the right pads and fluid on the OEM brakes to track the car. Even with the factory GM pads and fresh DOT 4 fluid they will handle any curvy road and light track work, it literally comes with race brakes from GM.

Unless you just want them for visuals
