Now get ready for all the ambulance chaser letters to start coming... Who was going to do your paint? How much? It's the code designating the car as a pre-order Last edited by mlee; 07-15-2009 at 07:27 PM. |

Champion was going to do my stripes. They charge $650 for factory style, or $950 for the longer ones that go over the mail slot, and down the back just a tad. That's what I was going to have done. I saw a few cars they had done and they looked real nice. And the price seemed good as well. |

Sorry to hear about your car man, I truly feel your pain.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32372 Ordered my car the first week available and took delivery May 26th. Luckily I don't have any fight ahead of me because the other driver recieved a citation. My damage was estimated at 4500 this morning and then raised this afternoon to 6000. If they have to replace the rim it'll go up some more. I chose an independent body shop and he's already ordered parts. He said he expects them in next week. I'm not counting on that but I'll be amazed if they are there by then. I plan on getting diminished value as well but never done so before. Keep in touch and maybe we can compare values so we get the best amount. Oh and I'm not too far away, over here in Missouri City. Good luck. |

My dealer called me today and said that they had the car all apart and got a good look at all of the damage. I went by and took a look and it is worse than we expected. The initial appraisal(by the other insurance company) was $5210. I knew that would be off as he did not even look under the car. But it looks like it was way off. She hit me so hard that it bent the subframe, dented in the unibody, broke the tie rods, and totally trashed the suspension on the driver's side. The front bumper frame is also bent up, along with the door and the back fender where the door meets it. You can see how hard I was hit as the tire actually dented the frame. Anyhow, it looks like the estimate was about 3 times too low. They also said that it will take at least 6 weeks to fix, assuming parts are available for the car. I had thought about keeping it if it was all cosmetic damage, but with this much, I definitely want a new car. Now it's time to battle.....

Insurance will pay for repairs but the car will never be right if they don't total the car.

Glad to hear you're ok!
..... Cars can always be fixed, not so easy to fix people! It seems that every day I'm reading on here about another freak accident either claiming another Camaro's life or at least doing some serious damage to it along with the driver. As responsible Camaro owners, it is up to all of us to take extra special caution in driving our cars ( especially around intersections ) as there are just too many stupid drivers out there that aren't taking the time to pay attention to what they are doing behind the wheel, but would rather get a close up view of our Camaros by banging on our doors so to speak. When my Camaro comes in, I'll be sure to upgrade it's shields! Look like I'm going to need all that I can get! |
