I had to pull the motor because I couldn't drop the subframe in my driveway that took a while. The mechanic that worked on it forgot to include most of the nuts for my headers so I went to homedepo. I replaced all 6 rod bearings and took the crank to my friends garage, it turned out that the old bearing had left a layer of aluminum on the crank so we hit it with muriatic acid. the acid left a very clean crank but left minor scratches so we ended up polishing the crank with 2k grit and it was good as new. Replaced front cover gasket and did its last oil change. The oil filter saved my motor. We did use a micrometer and plastigauge too

but what caused the failure in the first place? you dont want this to happen again im sure.... had oil pump failure on 2 of those engines so far in South Africa, also the bearing tolerances are hyper sensitive, technically the bearings has to be guaged to check if the tolerance is in spec with the new bearings, last bearing i replaced would have died again if i didnt check the tolerance...

From what i'm guessing, the front engine cover was leaking pretty bad and the rod bearing didn't have enough oil between my crank and bearing. The rod bearing tangs were destroyed and it spun with my crank until the bearings got sandwiched together and it seized to the crank. Oddly I didn't find any metal in the oil pump. The plastigauge clearances that I went with were (0.0007 - 0.0010)IN I also used CB-1877 A(6) standard bearings. The main bearing clearance was spot on 0.0006IN they looked brand new so I reused them.
