Good rule of thumb for these motors is to check the oil the morning after a gas fill up, and always use the step above the recommended maintenance. They say conventional oil is fine - Use Full Synthetic. Recommended Oil changes at 5000miles - Do every 3000miles. They say 87octane is fine - Use 93. Live by the "one up" rules and your cars will last twice as long
Since I took delivery in 10/09, and after the factory blend came out, its only had full synthetic Mobil 1 and a M1 filter, until Pennzoil Ultra platinum came out, So I use Penn UP plus a M1 filter currently. I dont go over 3k miles a year so its changed every October. IMO, there's no reason not to use Full synthetic, especially when its $22 for Penn Platinum FS at wal mart for example. I dont even put conventional or Semi blend in my 17 year old Acura. It gets Penn platinum with a NAPA/Wix filter. Again, I dont fault those that dont but its just what I use on my cars. Doing the "one up" rule as they say is one of the reasons my Acura has lasted so long and runs great. It is a testament because the 1st Gen MDX's have their share of issues, but i digress.

Since im supercharged I have to use 93, but used 93 since I've had the car. For my '10 LLT, there is hardly any oil loss, which im thankful for. Hope you get your situation sorted out OP.

or less, just depends. Bee has about 24K miles now. I don't drive it to college because of idiot drivers and not to work because of parking in a gravel, sand lot with trees dropping sap anywhere you park.

Most people (here) tell me that's crazy to not drive it everywhere or as little as I do...I dont care, I paid for it so i will drive it as much or little as I want. I do plan to drive it more once I'm out of college and move on from my current job. Being hit and run on at college (in my acura) is why I'm glad I don't take (the camaro) to class.

Well i couldve told you that. Very common because they had a real bad batch of bearings in the earlier production months.

Make sure you tank that motor if you decide to repair it. Never know where those contaminates got to in the motor

It can not be repaired because the metal that came off of the crank went through out the motor.

Don't let them tell you that. Take it to an engine builder. If you tank the motor and make sure all the surfaces are contaminant free you can rebuild it.
