Fenwick?
Trademarks (patents are for inventions, not names) expire after a while, and if you don't renew it someone else will likely swoop in and buy the rights to it. Even if GM never intends on building another Grand National, they don't they probably don't want Toyota or Ford or VW to use it either.

More importantly, owning the trademarks generates revenue thru licensing.

I was really hoping they would come back with this. Would have loved to see a Buick version of the ATS-V with the twin turbo V6. Would have been a great platform to bring back the GNX on. Buicks tend to be a little less luxurious on the inside than Cadillacs too so perhaps it would have had a slightly lower price to give a more financially attainable option for those that can't quite swing 70k+ for the ATS-V.

I feel the same way. They've could called the current "Charger" anything else and it wouldn't have mattered. To me, a Charger should always be a RWD, 2-door, V8 powered car. The fact that they hung the name on a 4-door sedan might actually hurt sales a little... I know it's a turn off for me and, right or wrong, it's the number one thing that discourages me from ever owning one. (Yes, they did the same thing on the 1980's 4 banger... but I didn't buy one of those either.) If you're gonna resurrect a respected model name, then show it some respect.

If Chevy ever hangs the Camaro name on a 4-door, I'll never buy one.

Old man rant over.
