Diffrences between a 1LE and SS
Hey guys I have a 2011 1SS and I want to make a few changes to my car. One of the first things I want is the rims from the 1LE Camaro. I see that they are wider and it seems like the 1LE sits lower. Is there a different suspension on the 1LE's?

My SS has a better set up then a stock 1LE. It’s not that hard to upgrade. The only thing I’m missing is the axels and I’m planning on gForce 850hp axels down the road. The 3.91 rear was worth every penny. Best mod so far.

Agreed, not hard at all to upgrade your suspension to at the very least 1LE grade with aftermarket suspension parts.
It'll cost you less than a cam swap too... |

Here a list of my performance & suspension mods so far. I’m leaving off cosmetics as that has no bearing on our conversation.
-CAI brand intake -American Racing long tube headers -American Racing high flow cats -Borla ATAK cat back exhaust -GM Performance 3.91:1 rear -BMR strut tower brace -BMR sway bars front & rear -Koni yellow shocks & struts -BMR 1” drop springs -BMR subframe connectors w/ driveshaft tunnel brace -BMR trailing arms -BMR toe links -Forgeline forged alloy wheels (9.5”x20F & 11”x20R) -Nitto Invo tires (275/40F & 315/35R) -R1 Concepts slotted & cross drilled rotors This car corners better then my Porsche did. Amazing what some simple changes can accomplish. |

You can order the 1LE complete suspension. We have the entire GM set up available on our site. We should have the 3.91 gears available soon to.

To actually answer your questions about the 5th Gen, the wheels (not "rims") are a big upgrade on the 1LE SS vs. the non-1LE SS in terms of strength and weight. The 1LE does have a different suspension, but you can easily upgrade these pieces on the SS. Other differences between the 1LE SS and regular SS are not as easy to upgrade (i.e. transmission and differential gear ratios, fuel pump, etc.).
