Install of borla ATAK axle back

It seems simple enough, except for the cutting
Off of the “suitcase “ muffler! Any advice on doing
This, directions in regards to the actual cutting
Is somewhat vague, they give pics with a tape measure
At 7” from muffler, but pic isn’t quite clear.

I just did this a few months ago.

I would cut per their instructions to test fit the exhaust first but note that a lot of people (myself included, end up cutting off another 1/2" - 1" so that the tips can be pushed further back behind the bumper. i dont like the look of the tips sticking out more than 1/2" - 1" past the bumper max. obviously don't tighten down the clamps until you are happy with the position of the tips.

i used a sawzal but it is pretty hard to get a clean perpendicular cut under the car on stands. as was recommended to me, i would use an exhaust cutter something like this:

I used this before to cut intercooler piping and it took longer but you have a lot better control of the cut.

I would tape up the bumper/difuser exhaust openings with blue painters tape so you dont accidently scratch it while removing and installing the exhaust.

Thx for the info, it sounds like you didn’t have enough
Room under car to get a straight cut, u think if car was on a lift
You would have no problem getting a straight cut?

It would be easier for sure, as you would be able to hold the sawzal more perpendicular to the ground, but still, I think i would use the exhaust cutter if available. The sawzals just isnt as precise imo.

with the exhaust cutter the place you wrap it around the exhaust when you start is where the cut will end up being. that said i dont think its super critical. my cut was okay, not perfect, but there is no issue anyway.

Yea it is pretty easy, i just wish you could adjust the tips for length instead of having to cut more off the factory exhaust. no big deal though.

i am doing a bunch of stuff getting ready for a track day (between working lol) and just snapped a pic of how my tips are positioned.

its pretty loud at cold start, but manageable if you start the car in stealth mode. otherwise it isnt bad in the quiet mode and even track mode, as long as you arent getting into it. if you have LTs i hear it is very loud

I have atak mufflers with stock manifolds, and you seriously hear the bark when you pass a car going the opposite direction ! Track mode.
