Quietest resonator for SS 1LE?
Hey all,
I know some of you have added resonators to change/reduce the sound output. I have an SS 1LE with a Whipple, stock exhaust except for a cat delete. Problem is I'm blowing through the sound requirements at the track so I'm considering adding a resonator somewhere in the system. I may do cats as well, but I'm starting with a resonator to see if that fixes the issue without requiring a retune as well as the expense of ultra high output cats (and maybe headers!). So I'm wondering if anyone has a reco for the quietest resonator that would fit and where it would go. (I assume at the mid pipe somewhere.) My tuner has recommended the Vibrant 2.5" inlet/outlet x 18" long (part #1793). And further, I'm wondering if folks have been able to do it themselves with some exhaust clamps or if this really requires a muffler shop to weld them in. TIA!

It says, "It Does NOT Fit Competitors Or Original Equipment Systems."
Is that just a marketing tactic?

I looked at the Vibrant, but think 2.5 is just a tad too small. The Borla is 2.75 and smooth. I think Borla says it won't fit because they don't want guys calling and say this is not shack and bake. Any competent shop can do this install. I did it with just minor help in about 3 hours (I'm old). Tools: handtools + exhaust pipe expander Lisle only, oh and a piece of wood to pry the twin pipes apart slightly, look to the left of picture
