Need help, she won't start without gas!
I have a 1987 Corvette, went to a spray n wash. Just sprayed the whole car down to get off the dirt, sprayed the tires, wheels, and wheel wells. And went to pull her out, she won't start without the foot on the gas. So I said screw drying her off I have to get her home before she croaks for good! Now she is in the middle of the garage and won't start unless foot on gas still. I went to try her again after drying out for two days. Won't start smokes a tiny bit, but if you have foot a little on gas she is good! Help me please!

I'll have to check with Corey in the mo0rning, which I will do, but help me out a little bit.
It could be a shorted connector for the TPS, throttle position sensor, the Cold Start Switch, or the cold start fuel injectors. Check each of these and maybe unplug them and replug them in... Beyond that, I'll have to quiz Corey and will probably show him this thread... Sorry I can't help more...

Are you getting a CEL. It could be a few things, bad injector, fuel pressure regulator, injector fuses or maybe a mass air sensor.

I checked what you guys said except for the ECM, took it to Mike Ward Infiniti where I bought it to have it checked out and a quote. If it's too difficult I'll let Scott(Covette Specialist) over there fix it.

Two things point to the brittle vacuum lines by the battery area. I suspect the high pressure spray hit a vacuum line (all C4's will have brittle crumbing lines by now) so you have created a vacuum leak. Follow all from the distribution links aroundthe battery area, and along the IM. Your AC will not operate the vent diverters and you will not idle due to the vacuum leak.
Let us know what you find....all the lines need to be replaced as they all crumble when that age. |

Thank you all so much! I went over and talked to Scott for a bit, he said ECM was fine, and one of the vacuum lines was practically clean cut. Which makes sense why my A/C sucks! And he cleaned out the distributor with air compressor I'm so happy to have her back!
