Unhappy Sony Radio help..

I recently got this radio.

And my Corvette already had an aftermarket xplod 52x4 radio in it but was cheaper and didn't sound good. So me and my brother installed the new one. Every thing was wired correctly and the radio would work until we tried plugging in the antenna cord to the radio. The yellow power wire we forgot to cover touched the back metal part of the radio and it shut off. We went through and checked the radio fuses and every other fuse in the car. And the radio will not work at all, even with the engine running and a door open none of the interior lights will come on either. I think I royally F'd up! :( Please help me figure this out, last resort is to take it to CarToys and I would rather spend that money on other stuff.

You sure you checked ALL of the fuses? You could have grounded the power wire.. hope you didn't mess up anything from the fuse box..

Everything in the fuse box looks good. Car ran fine when I took her to friends house and back home. Everything but inside lights and radio work.

Sure sounds like you popped a fuse. Do you have the manual for the car?
If so check the specific fuses again. Good luck.

Check the continuity of the fuses with an ohm meter. Maybe they look good, but could be bad.

On some corvettes (and others) the radio constant (yellow) wire is on the same circuit as the cigarette lighter and/or the courtesy lights .. Check that fuse

If I remember right, it's on the passenger side of the dash

GM never believed in keeping all the fuses in one easy place

Make sure to check the fuses in the driver compartment as well as under the hood.

I'll run through and just check every fuse while I'm at it.

I don't know of any place but on the passenger side under the hood and inside the dash on passenger side.

another question, will this fuse be sufficient for use in my Corvette, found it in the garage. It is a 15 amp but very small and wondering if I can still use it.

^ drives a Vette but cheaps out on the right 25cent fuse

even cheaper solution is use a 1/4 wide strip of aluminum foil wrapped over each end to complete the circuit. That will be around 15amps, full wrap of fuse is 30-40+

[no I don't have a little ball of foil in ever car just incase I have to rig one to get home ]

I fugured thats what it was...

A mini ATC fuse is ok to use in the place as long as your contacts are tight enough to keep the fuse tight in place.
