While I do understand that the dealer should honor your request, I agree with them that your request is unnecessary. There's no reason to change the oil that soon. The computer knows how the breakdown of your oil is going based on a plethora of factors that it is monitoring. Any more often than that and you are wasting oil, and money.

GM changed the rules on the 2 year maintenance and removed the oil life requirement. For customer satisfaction, dealers are allowed to use the 2 year program at any mileage if the customer requests otherwise.

Things have changed, dealers are required to confirm less than 25 percent oil life before performing free maintenance. I wouldn't leave the dealer just for following the rules. Just my opinion.

Agree with the majority. First oil change @ 1,500 miles then I would go every 4K miles. Some dealers in the past would give people a hard time regarding using the free ones to early / life %. FYI: When I used my free ones the dealer used Mobil 1 full synthetic (on receipt as well).

Franco not sure of your model / engine but I would confirm with the dealer it will be full synthetic oil, not a blend. I would have it down now with the miles you have.

Oil monitor goes to 0 at 12 months even with 0 miles, any idea what yours was?

Absolutely incorrect. Dealers have been instructed to change it at the customers' discretion, this has not been changed.

Went in and got a free oil change at 1,000 miles and a free rear diff change! You need a dealership like that!

That's the track preparation guide not the owners manual which does not state anywhere to change at 500.

It recommends to change your oil at 500 miles but says not to track it til 1500 miles. Explain that one. So the 500 mile change is not for track preparation.

Explain why it says to refer to the owners manual for break in which contracts that guide. And like you said why mention it to begin with in Track prep when you aren't supposed to track it until break in is complete.

I think we just caught the lack of communication between the engineers and the legal/bean counters who wrote the owners manual.

I know my vote is it can't hurt to change it early.
