stroker gas mileage

Hey guys so I'm thinking that I'm getting ready to do a full rebuild pretty soon and was thinking of going with a 415 stroker and was wondering if the gas mileage will go out the window? And I think I might go with the GPI SS3 vvt with around a 3200-3600 stall converter but not sure I might just go with a small enough cam to run the stock converter like my current SS1 but I will be doing a tranny rebuild as well.

I have been curious about running a cam meant for an LS3 with a stroker kit. I'd assume cam profiles will be different for the duration as the intake and exhaust strokes are longer (in distance, not time).

I don't have a 415 stroker, but I reall love my 4500 stall with my build! Went from a 3200 which wasn't quite big enough.

I think the cam choice will be the biggest loss or gain in mpg. Yeah some losses too from slipping converter depending on how much time you spend driving without it locked, e.g. city.
The bigger stroker causes more friction and pumping losses.
Change the rear gears to 3.91s or 4.11s and add some high rolling resistance big sticky tires to help further the fun and mpg loss.
Edit: It's interesting the mpg of an SS vs ZL1 with the same type car. The ZL1s get sht mpg even stock. The blower doesn't add more than a few hp of frictional drag due to the bypass. I'd guess the high hp capacity trans and diff and some friction. It has a tiny cam. Maybe no VVT hurts it more than I expected too. The LS3 doesn't have VVT but mpg isn't bad also.

So I think I'm going to stick with the stock displacement just for the sake of gas mileage because right now I get 20 mpg on the highway. But I will be going with a little bigger cam and maybe a converter so I'm sure that will suck a little more mileage out but hopefully not too much.

Sorry, OT here but am I the only one who has never got more than 17.8 MPG out of my Camaro? (L99) Even when it had super low miles, it never rose above that. In town, out of town, regardless of driving habits, it's always somewhere in the 17 mpg range. Bad sending unit maybe, I dunno.

I average 10.5mpg supercharged on E85. But this is my baby, not my DD or truck. Also E85 is still cheaper hear than 87 so I say screw it...

Idk know either. But did just drive from Austin to Arlington and on the way there I averaged 20 mpg but on the way back I only got 18 mpg. The only difference was my son was with me and had a few things loaded in the trunk and I think we were going against the wind lol.

Well with my build I'm getting 21.3-22.0 on the interstate cruising at 72 mph, about 1800-2000 rpm, around town I drive in manual mode with the converter locked and am getting about 14-15 mpg, in sport with it unlocked around 12-13. Like I have said before on the forum, my tuner said he has my trans tune set up for what he called "manual auto lock", so whenever I go to manual mode, it locks the converter, this way also I am able to keep the trans cooler too by it not slipping. Really nice aspect. I drive her just like a stick car, tons of fun and sounds great shifting up and down. On the highway we have it set to lockup at 55 mph.
