• (N26) Sueded microfiber-wrapped steering wheel

Hi. I like the look but will it stand up to wear?

The leather 2022 looks and feels awesome, so is the Sueded microfiber-wrapped steering wheel worth it?

I searched and didn't find any discussions. Thank you!

some people like the alcantara or whatnot. I can't stand it. I know it's probably just me, but I have naturally sweaty hands and I find myself having to deep clean my steering wheel way more often than I would otherwise, and this is even after I wash my hands everytime I get in the car.

I thought I would hate it. I knew I would hate it. But I have the heated one and I absolutely love it. One of my favorite things on the car. Just makes my hands feel happy.

It’l get dirty for sure, and I’ll clean it. But after 6k miles mine still looks great meaning clean once a year? That’s not bad at all.

I have a black car with that suede steering wheel in the PNW which is certainly not the Deep South. Probably be less happy with it in Alabama like crosive above.

I’d try it. You might be surprised like I was.

I like mine too but to keep it like new takes a lot of maintenance because eventually the micro suede gets flat and worn and looks bad. The gearshift knob wears even faster at least for me it did. If you like it then get it is my advice.

I have trained myself to wear a set of light leather gloves I have and the steering wheel stays looking new.

I thought about doing that too with this one. I had gloves in the early 1980's with my 82 Camaro Berlinetta that I put a sweet Red leather steering wheel in. I still can't find a picture of that steering wheel... probably didn't take one.

So long as you keep your hands clean and you don't generally have sweaty or greasy hands, the Alcantara will last for quite a while and still look relatively new with proper upkeep.

My SS 1LE, C7 Z06, TT RS, RS3, and ZL1 1LE all had/have Alcantara steering wheels. All of them look and felt/feel new. And I'm not afraid to put miles on my cars.

They sell cleaning kits that come with solutions for cleaning it. Usually comes with a brush as well, which I used regularly as maintenance when cleaning the car and I wet it down once a year at most.

i use the sonax alcantara cleaner with brush. i clean mine 3-4 times per season (march-november). it's not a daily and doesn't get driven in the winter, but i find time to put 10-12k miles a year on it.

I love my alcantara wheel, my SS came with the leather and I think it was one of the best upgrades I have done

Yeah it’s tough here in the south. But chevys shine bright down here and I didn’t buy this thing for the plastic interior, I bought it for the performance/$
