Help, the ambient lighting functionality will only change in drive mode.

Hello, I currently live in Korea and have a CAMARO 2SS. Korea 16 CAMARO 2SS don't have the same function as the link below, is there a way to solve this problem? In Korea, no one tries to solve this problem even if it occurs in a car. The official dealer is not aware of this. Is there any way I can handle it alone? Please help me solve this problem.

swipe right on the display to the ambient lighting icon. In that menu there is an option that unhooks it from driving mode and you can select whatever color you want to display.

Thank you for answer. But there is no app like the picture. I don't know why it's not in my car. What is the problem?

the up arrow on the bottom right, can you swipe up and see more icons?

Sorry I cannot read the display so I cannot tell what those icons are for except for guessing by their general shape

The cogwheel is usually settings, is there something in there?

That just brings up the favorites bar. If there were more app icons, there'd be 2 or more dots in the middle, underneath the bottom icon row (see photo below)

There was a language change function, so I took a picture after changing from Korean to English. When I press the right arrow, a button with a number or nothing to press appears.

This video makes it seem as though the vehicle has to be turned on to access the function. https://youtu.be/eWgiQFY1Dow

Seems kind of weird that the vehicle would have to be turned on. Might explain why the MPG aren't that great, you have to crank the engine on to change all sorts of settings.

1. Go to the touch screen and slide the screen options over to Ambient Lighting

2. There's an option there to disable that, so it doesn't change at all and you can set a custom color.

Also, one possibility is the touchscreen was replaced with the older 2015 or 1SS or LT1 screen, which has limited functionality.

Or maybe just need a software update?

Thank you for your answer. Is there any way to tell if it is a 1ss or LT1 screen? Is it possible because it's an HMI module that doesn't have a lighting app?

Neither screen has an ambient light option.

The 2SS and ZL1 screens do I think it was 2018/2019 when they changed the software screen... The screens that don't have the ambient lighting are often 7" screens where the newer screens are 8" with the ambient option depending on model of the car.

So maybe before you owned the vehicle someone replaced the screen with a different one and the last setting the CPU knew about could have been drive mode light switching?

Thank you for taking care of my problem.
I contacted the dealer in korea and they told me that all the SS in korea come as i have it where does not interact with the HMI module.

What can I change to solve this problem? I think it will be possible if there is an app button on the screen... I may be mistaken, but the ambient light is working well on the door and on the radio. It only works when the drive mode is changed, and there is no interior lighting button, so I don't think I can change it. In the past, I heard that it may be possible if you change the HMI module, but which module number should I change to? However, if I change it, I will be the first person to try it, and I wonder if there will really be an interior lighting app.

the screen doesn't contain anything but a display controller. The HMI controls what gets shown.

But there is no guarantee that if you have Gen5Diy hack up an HMI that works in your car, that it will be able to control the ambient lighting because your ambient lighting appears have a module that is programmed to listen for the Drive mode either thru ODB2 communication or one of the GMLAN type busses. It may not be programmed to listen for the commands that the app would submit that are independent of the drive mode.

And i dont think gen5Diy has anything that reprograms the ambient lighting controller. But maybe they'd be willing to help anyway.

You might need to also buy a US ambient lighting controller to utilize the hacked HMI from gen5diy. These go for around 90 bucks used in the US.
