Factory air filter change

My Camaro is 1.5 years old , 29k miles. The air filter monitor says 55% left. How often do y'all change yours? I just got one at Chevy dealer, $41.

For $24 more, you could've bought a K&N drop in filter https://www.knfilters.com/chevrolet/...l-v6-gas/2021/ Aside from a little more airflow, you can reuse the filter with their 10 year, 1,000,000 mile warranty. As for changing it out, that's where I like the reusable filters, you just need the recharging kit, and can clean it as often as you like, as you don't have to worry about going out and buying a replacement.

I'm 60 ,have had many k&n filters.Have one on my 2004 xr250.They let in fine dust.I want to keep the air flow sensor clean for now. I have been buying my oil filters from the Chevy dealer $8. I thought the air filter would be reasonable.Got fooled, but got it anyway, should have called for price first.

In all the years that you've had the K&Ns, have any failed you and caused engine failure?

I used k&n for years, switched to Green filters on the Camaro, they are probably the same as k&n performance wise but do look a bit higher quality

No they never hurt anything I could tell. The only ones it helped was my 06 Acura RSX-S and possibly xr250.I had a 2016 focus st I bought new and put 93 k miles on.I put catless downpipe, bigger intercooler on.Had a green filter and k&n filter for it. At over 80 k miles I put a paper in that I had taken out years ago, in good shape. I could not tell any difference.

That's my point, even if you weren't interested in any performance gains, after 2 air filter changes/cleanings it pays for itself.
