Ring and Pinion Brand

Looking to replace my ring and pinion when I install my Eaton True-trac for drag racing. I read a few threads where people stated use OEM or American Axle Manufacturing (Oem supplier?).

There were supposedly some issues with earlier version of the Richmond on the drag strip, but the thread was years ago. Not sure if that was a case of gears or if the owner had not addressed wheel hop.

Haven't heard much on any of the other brands. What are you running and has it been durable? A quick estimate at the power level you have and if you addressed the suspension to limit wheel hop would be appreciated.

In my case, I have the BMR drag pack, drag radials, and stiffer differential cover. Everything else is stock (2SS with automatic) at the moment but bolts ons and a GPI Stage 1 VVT cam are the goal.

First and foremost, get a poly bushing kit, add in a lowering kit if you want. I was at 420rwhp and had terrible wheel hop. Adding the bushings and lowering kits help tremendously. I had a 3.91 gear in my factory diff, but have since upgraded to a ZL1 3.73 diff.

The drag kit Im installing has bushings, control arms, adjustable shocks, etc.. wheel hop should be covered.

Most folks on here that drag race their cars will probably tell you to go with AAM 3.91 gears. I've heard nothing but good things about them and I haven't heard of any failures with this particular brand. I've decided to jump on the bandwagon and just installed a set. I'm still breaking them in, so I can't attest from personal experience to their longevity yet, but I will say I am noticing quite a difference in acceleration even with light pressure on the throttle.

I bought GM 1LE 3:91 kit. 19329768

The ring gear box is AC Delco 84745893. Are AAM gears stamped with AAM markings?
