There are apparently some weight savings as well...or so I am told.

I've seen all the claims from the manufacturers but have yet to see a independent dyno come anywhere close to their claims. 18whp/24tq are damn near LT numbers. There's no way they are getting that much gain with the stock cats.

I always say you need to look at the dyno graph as most shops only look at peak numbers and I have seen parts only make +1hp at 6500rpm but make 10-15hp in the 3-5K range. DW |

I wouldn't say NEVER, but most do put a tune on with them. There are several that haven't though. You can't compare HP output between LT's with a tune to Shorty's without one.

id say look at the hp/dollar of shorties vs long tubes.
us mod motor mustang guys usually try to steer people away from shorties because the install isnt really much easier over longtubes and the gains (pwr wise) are minimal. id say if youre gonna spend the $, then just go ahead and get longtubes and be done with it. |

Now comparing shorties with off road mids vs Long tubes with off road mids would be nice to see. DW |

Why do people continue to argue with each other about this crap?! If the man says he got 48 RWHP then thats what he got! ARH claims 50 rwhp with their LTs and a tune... WTH do you all just look for something to argue about? We are all spending our own $$ for more power, better sound, etc...so why try to ruin somebodys day? If they think it was a great deal then just keep your comments to yourself and let them be HAPPY!!
Long tubes, short tubes...what the hells the difference if they make you happy! |

There is an appreciable weight advantage with the shorties over the stock manifolds, and they also sound better (deeper tone) than the manifolds when you open up the rest of the exhaust behind the cats.
Those BBK collectors look more efficient that my Doug Thorleys. I wouldn't be so quick to trash the man's product. That is, if anybody still cares? I just noticed the date on this thread.
