Dealer charges less than 25 bucks?? Wow. I haven't seen a dealer oil change under $50 in years. The GM dealer now charges $65 plus tax here in SoNev. Of course, I'm a full synthetic user too so that is more.

I used to do all my own work. I still do a lot but don't/can't do anything that requires me to get all the way down on the ground. I have a hell of a time getting back up. Dealership does my oil changes.

To be honest, i pretty much quit doing mechanical work on my vehicles. Im 66; my back is not great and i just had a hip replacement last month. I have a small and very trusted shop i use for that kind of work now, and reserve the fun stuff to do for myself. Although I used to love to wrench on my stuff, i let the younger guys have it now. I bring what i like to use and he charges me $20 to do it.. i also buy my tires frm him, so he rotates them for free at the same time.

Since I started driving 45 years ago I have never had anyone touch my vehicles except for the occasional recall on a vehicle.

Last time I let someone change my oil it cost me a engine. Unless I'm dead i'll be doing my own changes.

I change my own oil (and wives' oil), takes about 20 minutes for either vehicle. That way I know it's done right. The only thing that sucks is taking the used oil back to the parts store.
