I hope it doesn’t come back. I want to keep this car for 10+ years.....really do not want to invest in a new car for a while.

you guys do realize that this asshat doesn't read this or care about our problems. They are bandaiding the problem until warranty runs out. They have had plenty of time to make it right or get a permanent fix and nothing has gotten better. The are just waiting us all out

I am 99% sure that if a problem is brought up prior to the warranty period ending, they must continue to service the problem even after the warranty period.

I realized it when I found posts going back for years about the same issue. My car is a 2018 with only 33 miles on it when purchased and I had the issue 1000 miles in.

I need to get that in writing from someone.

20,500 miles and I started experiencing this issue at cruising speed when the car switches to 4 cylinders. It did it pretty much the whole way 80 miles there and back. Making an appointment Monday. Car was built 11/15.

Took my car back to the Dealership on Monday for the 3rd time on my torque converter problem. Just got the call yesterday that they are finally changing it out... good news to hear finally! The flushings just didn't work on my ride. I went through 2 Triple Flushes. Looking forward to getting her back, I definitely miss driving her!

So this out to be interesting..my '16 2LT V6 just developed the shudder..and researching here says it has happened during manufacturer warranty period..I am at 82K miles...this is likely NOT gonna be a fix on GM's dime..anyone had experience with an out of warranty claim on this yet?

Some of us have issues with GM and stealers not covering this in warranty. Out of the 60k warranty, you need a bit of luck

Mine is an '18, and I have just over 5k miles on it. I started experiencing the shudder maybe a couple thousand miles ago, so it's been a while. Thing is, it only happens when cruising around 60-70 mph - and it doesn't do it constantly. From what I'm reading here, I don't know if it is even worth taking it in. I don't want them touching my car to begin with, let alone go through "the process", where they flush, flush, flush, before changing out the TC. May have to look into just flushing and replacing the fluid myself, and see what happens.

I'd go to the dealer and explain the issue to the service manager and ask if they will goodwill it. They will ask the factory rep and get an answer. Sometimes they will do it for free, sometimes they will split it or you pay parts and they will cover labor, or sometimes they will tell you to get lost. If that gets you nowhere contact GM directly and explain the issue and mention its a known issue with all A8's and see if they will help you any.

If you are polite and don't go in guns a blazing, most people will do what they can to help you out. Even if it's goodwill, it's making the dealer money so they want the business. But from experience, if you come in demanding this and that and telling them what they need to do, they will point at the 60k powertrain and tell you kick rocks.

No disrespect to the dealers, I just like to work on my car myself, when possible.

Unless you have a 12 quart flush machine with a clean and dirty chamber that uses the transmissions pump, you can't do the flush yourself.

Looks like GM admits repeat converter/and or transmission replacement will not provide a long term solution.
