What: Essex AP Radi-Cal Competition Big Brake Kit – 9668/372mmx34mm

Price: $3,750.00 + shipping (around $100). Current Retail price on everything I’m including would add up to $6,500.00 when brand new.
If you are looking to purchase this for a 6th gen Camaro to get the basic kit we can discuss which parts could be removed and what kind of new selling price that would work out to.

Application: All V8 Gen 5 Camaro Front (direct bolt on)
This kit will also fit on a 6th gen Camaro. The calipers and caliper mounting brackets are the same part numbers for a 6th gen Camaro, the rotor disc rings are the same for any 372mm kit, you would just need to purchase new complete rotors for a 6th gen application from Essex in order to get the correct rotor hats and you would need to purchase 6th gen Camaro brake lines as well. The rear brake pads I have will fit into the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE rear calipers but the SS rear calipers are different for some reason.

What’s Included:
1. Essex/AP Racing Radi-Cal Competition BBK – Retail of $4,799.
- AP Pro Radi-Cal 5000 9668 calipers. These calipers can accept brake pads that are 25mm thick pad material (not including the backing plate thickness)
- Used set of J-hook rotors (estimated at 25% life left). There are heat checks in the disc surface but there are no cracks that go all the way to the edge of the disc. Replacement rotor disc rings are around $350-$400/ea.
- Spiegler brake line kit for Gen 5 Camaro front
- Caliper Mounting brackets
- All mounting hardware needed
- I had the calipers professionally rebuilt by Essex in 2018. So they only have a couple of seasons on them and I didn’t really put that much use on them since the rebuild

2. Extra Set of Rotor Hats - Retail value of $622
- Qty(2) additional rotor hats so you can have a spare set of fully assembly rotors ready to go at the track if needed. These rotor hats are application specific and Essex does not sell them separately from a complete rotor assembly. The only way you can get another set of rotor hats is to buy a complete rotor assembly from Essex which is around $750/ea for a complete rotor assembly with application specific hat.

3. Brake Pads:
- Set of Ferodo DSUNO brake pads (Front) – Retail value of $620
18mm pad thickness left ( brand new was 25mm pad thickness). Normally a brand new Essex BBK does not even come with pads. That is still an extra cost that is discounted a little at the time of the BBK purchase.
- Set of Ferodo DS1.11 brake pads (Rear OEM Brembo fitment) - Retail value of $400
This set of pads has about 75% life left. This rear compound has worked well for me with any of front pads I've run.


4. Pad Tension Kit – Retail value of $170
- This kit is an optional pad retainer kit that has springs on top to keep tension on the pads. It’s only purpose is to reduce/eliminate the pad knocking noise you would hear with the regular pad retainers when the pads switch sides (top or bottom) in the caliper depending on direction of wheel rotation. It is not normally included with the standard BBK and is an optional accessory you have to buy separately. This is a NVH issue that is solved with this kit.

5. Extra set of M8 cap screws used to hold the pad retainer in place – Retail value of $22
- I like having extra hardware incase one gets lost or damaged when changing pads at the track and you need a new bolt to finish your brake job to get back out on track.

What would you need to purchase in addition:

1. Additional new rotor discs as needed - around $350-$400/ea.

2. To mount a new rotor disc to the spare rotor hats you would need to purchase a hardware kit (bolts, washers, locknuts) from Essex that are $30/ea for a kit that covers a single rotor. You would also need to purchase the Bobbins and spring washers used on every other bolt when mounting the rotor to the hat. The bobbins would be around $30/set as well for a single rotor.

3. If you don’t already have high temp brake fluid in your car you will want to get a good quality high temp racing brake fluid.
