Ordering a ZL1

What's your experience been with an order? Dealer says he has an allocation and states 10 weeks and I'd much prefer an order of the exact car that I want...Satin Steel Grey/A10/Carbon Fiber Insert.

Order exactly what you want unless there is one out there.

ZL1 vert on order for my wife. TPW 3/1

Allocations seem to be hard to come by.

I tried to order my first ZL1, dealer says he had the ability to get one. They lied. Ended up just searching for the one I wanted and went to get it.

Do a search and see if you can find one already built on the car websites. You never know if you will find exactly the ZL1 you want unless you do a search! Good luck either way with a search or ordering.

Don't forget PDR! Great for resale even if you don't need it

My ZL1 has PDR and I have never used it! Maybe I need to one day soon.

I would order, it is worth the wait to get exactly what you want... I ordered my 2020 2SS, took about 10 weeks to get (that was over the holidays), was nice to get in my car with only 3 miles on the odometer and know it was 100% exactly what I wanted...

I'm gunning to take delivery in Apr when the weather turns and continue riding out the 1LE in what's left of winter.

I ordered my 2021 ZL1 on December 21st just how I wanted: A10, shadow gray metallic, exposed carbon fiber hood insert, Nav., and CF shift knob cover (most on the lots in my region have sunroofs and I did not want a sunroof). The dealer technically placed the order on Dec. 22nd. It was built the end of the first week of Feb. in Lansing, MI (where all Camaros are built) and is now sitting in a rail yard in Toledo, OH awaiting a cross country train ride to Salt Lake City, then from there a day or two on a truck to Boise.

So, right now it's 8+ weeks and counting. Dealer originally quoted me 8-12 weeks, so I'm still within that quoted timeframe. Hopefully it doesn't sit in Toledo very long. I know there's a lot of cars that pass through those rail yards.

That said, I admit it's been tough to wait, but the anticipation is building and I know I'll appreciate having a ZL1 more than if I had just bought the first one I test drove back in December. The weird thing is I love my 2018 Mustang GT Premium (w/ PP1, MagneRide, A10, Safe and smart package+bolt ons), but it's sitting in my garage reminding me that I don't yet have the ZL1 (since I'll be selling the Mustang). It's kind of a strange feeling to really, really like the car, but start to feel disconnected from it knowing the days are numbered. I've never leased a car so that isn't a feeling I'm used to.

I ordered a ZL1 last week. I prefer to order but I could not find a car local with the options I wanted.
