LT1 Normal Oil Pressure Range

I'm probably being incredibly paranoid about the pick up tube recall but I feel like the idle oil PSI has dropped since when I first got the car. While idling on a warm engine it's sitting around 28-29 PSI. Is this around what everyone else is at?

I've noticed my oil press. has also always been much lower than my LLT V6.

Never greater than 40 even at start-up (hot weather since I got the car).
I'm sure it's dropping down in the 28-30 range when warmed up and at idle.

I know it'll definitely be lower than the V6s with the DOHCs and all the other valvetrain parts. I'm pretty sure those engines used to hit the peg on a cold start.

I'm in my ss now at warm idle and just a hair under the 30 mark. So the same as your ss.

Here's the thread I was looking for. Just watched mine for the first time SS, 28-29 fully warmed up at idle and lower rpms. Gets up to a little under 40 under rpms. Was wondering if this was normal myself. Seems like it is.

Mine sits about 30 maybe lil less when hot idling and 35 cruising. Rarely goes upto or over 40 unless I go WOT at which point only at very high rpm does it hit 50 or so. Is that normal? This is my second 2016 and I could have swore my first one had a little higher pressure then this.

Mine has been about the same for 3 years and 21K miles . I dont worry about it.

factory oil pressure specs are 22psi at 1000rpm, 30psi at 2,000 rpm, and 33psi at 3,000 rpm. So yes, that will be normal.

The relief valve (should) stop oil pressure from exceeding between 55 and 75 psi.

As long as oil pressure increases with rpm then it's fine. Idle pressure does not need to be very high.

Not like old cars....OP now fluctuates depending on the engines requirements. No longer just what the pump pumps out. All controlled by sensors now.

Should I expect a difference in pressure when I run 5-40 oil per the track-prep guide for track days? When I run the standard 5-30 I run slightly below 40 PSI. When I run the 5-40 I am closer to 45. Both these PSI readings are "most of the time" readings, meaning when I look, that's where they are.

Yes thicker oil will increase pressure.

at operating temp mine shows 30 psi idling, and it gradually increases to around 55 psi with rpm up to 6100 or so. at 6100 it jumps to 70+ psi. oil weight doesn't seem to make a difference. i've had 5-30, 0-40 & 5-40 in it. all the same except the heavier oils make a little more pressure when cold below 5k rpm.
