Supercharged LT4 V8 or next gen V8!!??

I always said GM should have built a rwd crossover on the Alpha chassis but this is still a good move no matter the timing from GM.

I don't believe Alpha as a chassis is/was able to be a CUV.

I want to be excited about this, but the vast majority of the public can't afford the regular Escalade. Similar to the CT5 V Blackwing at over 100k for typical examples on the lot. Both primed to be fantastic vehicles that we'll have to lust after face pressed against the dealer window.

Its nice but:
1. The price. Escalades already command north of 100k. The market will be slim at best.
2. The size: The large body precludes it from being a serious performance contender, especially on the track. It will have a great soundtrack though. This is where GM missed the ball. If they kept their midsized suv chassis in this market, GM could've had a red hot contender to the mopars and the hellcats. The escalade will end up being a lone player in its genre.

GM should absolutely use this time to utilize the parts left of their exciting car line. I just wish that more thought and planning could've gone into this.

Love this idea simply because it will probably be one of the last why not do it vehicles we may see. Probably going to start at over 125K

Well it is a Cadillac. The majority of the public shouldn't be able to afford one. That might sound snobby or elitist but it's the truth.

Escalade ATPs are already close to $100k. Despite that 2021 sales were up 65%.

I get what you're saying, but it is frustrating when a GMC Hummer is >100k and a Silverado EV is >100k. Blackwing >100k. Anything cool we introduce is >100k.

Looks like LT4 with a 10 speed auto sounds like a lot of fun in a SUV package.

Well to be fair...

Escalade base price: $76,295
Hummer EV base price: $79,995
Silverado EV base price: $39,990
CT4-V Blackwing: $58,995
CT5-V Blackwing: $83,995

I see what you're saying but you're also picking the top trims or fully loaded versions of everything cool.

Hmmm ordinarily I would agree with this; However here are my thoughts.

1. The bread winner of General Motors (all of) happens to be Chevrolet. Chevrolet once stood for affordable transportation for the masses. In general its theme is still this way, but even Chevrolet has entries into the 80k, 90k and 100k markets. The company could not survive on Cadillac sales alone.

2. Cadillac's target market historically has been the upper middle class and the well to do. In Cadillac's hey day it was a market approach that worked. From the mid 80's to the present day, Cadillac no longer owns this genre, and the genre itself has become mixed with other variants. Other marquis have had to adjust their target market to include vehicles that are reachable to a broader market. Brands such as BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and a few others have introduced models that are somewhat reasonable in price.

3. To Cadillac's credit, the Escalade has proven to have been a success. It took the iron clad chassis of the Chevrolet Suburban, and added world class amenities to it. It took a little bit of time, but it solidly ousted the Lincoln Navigator to become the best recognized premium people hauler of its genre.

4. Amazing talents have been achieved by modest players. The high priced genre no longer is the most advanced or the best performing of the automobile market. Many of today's advancements can be had in everyday modest cars. Even many luxury appointments once held by higher priced cars can be found in many affordable vehicles.

The meaning of all of this is: Cadillac cannot rely solely on price exclusivity in order to survive. The name brand must come up with more "unique" ways to generate business and to compete with today's cars. So far this has proven to be a daunting challenge.
