The price range in Silverado EV is very high in general, and GM is out of tax credit. I really wonder the price range in upcoming GMC Sierra EV.

Considering it's launching solely as a Sierra Denali initially...

I had a 2002 Tuppertruck. I loved it. And one reason i went with RAMBOX on my last few trucks.

EV Silverado gets 660HP and 780 torque

Well that just shot down any prejudice I had against EVs.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but it's a Silverado - not a Colorado. And if you're going to joke about it's name, it's clearly an Avalanche...

I'd say the same to you: relax. I was just making sure you weren't joking, and correcting you so you actually got it right, if you DIDN'T know.

While I'm not going to soapbox about EVs, my friend was a relatively early adopter of a Tesla Model S as a DD, and now has a Model 3. It's been fantastic for him and his wife, who commutes 70+ miles a day round trip.

I had significant gripes w/ the Model S for anything OTHER than a daily, namely a long road trip with passengers. The rear bench seat was god awful in my opinion. The Model 3 was a large improvement across the board, and it saved him quite a bit of money.

But, for longer road trips where they are going to do more than 250-300 miles, their 2021 Silverado is their immediate go-to for comfort and storage capabilities. This is why I ordered my RST - I LOVE having a truck, and a truck EV with good mileage? Sign me up.

The acceleration numbers look good, but if I need to do truck stuff, I don't think that's very significant. As mentioned in another thread, I am curious how the range will hold up when towing or carrying a lot of stuff in the bed, especially if we compare it to a diesel.

Also, how is the ground clearance? That's my gripe with Mach-E - an SUV with a car's ground clearance because of, you guessed it, where the battery is positioned. You know, the one thing I want in SUV is high ground clearance. Good going, Ford. Curious to see how it compares to the ICE variant.

And another relatively minor problem I see is how one would utilize the frunk. On Porsches and C8 Corvette, those sit low enough for you to fit some big and heavy stuff in. I can't see that happening with a truck frunk without a step of some sort, unless you enjoy having joint problems down the road. I'd think they considered this and I am just not seeing it from the screenshot posted.

But eh, first gen stuff. Maybe some things like ground clearance will get better.

One idea I do have is something more stripped down and as a cutaway van. I could see an EV truck work alright as a city moving truck. Towing range and ground clearance aren't as big of an issue in this case, and I save on gas money while U-Haul and the likes save on maintenance, though the purchasing cost will likely be high, still.

For a quick/rough comparison of the two " mainstream" EV trucks:

Payload
F-150: 2000lbs
Silverado: W/T - 1200lbs
Silverado: (higher trims) - 1300lbs

Tow
F-150: 10,000lbs
Silverado: W/T - 8000 lbs
Silverado (higher trims) - 10,000lbs

Hp/Tq
F-150: XL - 426/775
F-150: optional (XLT+) - 563/775
Silverado: W/T - 510/615
Silverado: (higher trims) - 664/780

Range
F-150: 230*-300*
Silverado: 400+

MSRP (starting)
F-150: XL-$41,669 XLT-$54,669 Lariat-$69,169 Platinum-$92,569
Silverado: W/T~$39,900**

*With 1000lbs payload
**plus destination, current for Silverado is $1595

They stack up rather well. I wonder how the unibody vs separate bed/cab will effect sales. You can already see all the "Avalanche" comments on this and many other forums.

Cheaper to just get an older Avalanche and...leave the motor in it lol.
