Driver's seat memory-doesn't always work

Hello folks,

Has anyone experienced the seat not either moving upon exit or moving forward upon entry randomly?

Both options are set up in the infotainment vehicle settings but this thing goes haywire sometimes by not moving the seat accordingly.
What I've done in the past is go into the settings and disable and enable it back on again and it works again consistently for like a week or so.

Any clues here?

Looks like I'm lucky, mine has worked 100% of the time for 5 years. One would think eight model years should be enough to iron out all these kinks, but hey, this is GM

If it makes you guys feel better, my wife has a Traverse with a known flaw that GM didn't fix from 2009 (first MY) to 2017 (last MY before refresh), I'll have to take it in, the gauge cluster needs to come out and get replaced... unless she can live with it (hint, hint )

No issues as of yet but I've pretty much set my seat position and have never adjusted it since and I don't use the auto exit stuff as I figure this will wear out the motors fairly quick with how things go with cars these days, lol.

Seat not moving

So it is not a glitch it is a design. I noticed this as well and it has to do with setting the parking break before you turn the car off (I am assuming you have a manual). If you set the brake and then turn the car off the seat will go to the exit position and then when you get back in it will return to the driving position once the car is started. If you set the brake after you turn the car off the seat wont move.

My seat moves forward when I open the door... I'm 6'3 so I have to get my hand down fast enough to stop it from smashing my legs. Not sure how I stop it from doing this.

I think If I start the car in neutral, the seat does not move into the memory location, But, if I start the car in `1st gear, it will move most of the way into the memory location. It's weird.

If vehicle is in running it does not work. Car has to be off then it will activate when you open the door. I have tested this a few times.

The parking brake has to be set for it to move forward when I get in. Took a while to figure that out. It always moves back for exit. This is a 2017 M6.

Set your seat where you want it to go when you turn off the car. Hold the SET button until it beeps, then IMMEDIATEDLY press the Seat Exit button. Then it should start moving to that seat seating when you turn off the car, instead of cramming you forward into the dash.

Excellent. This has been bothering me since I got the car. I'm sure it's in the manual, but who reads that. Now I know why the seat never moves to my set position when I start my car in my garage... I never set the parking brake in my garage. Easy solution! LOL

thanks for the intel!

Exit works every time. It’s a crapshoot whether I need to manually push the preset button, or not, to move the seat into position.
