The day of test drive I had my 330I.

Even for a 9 year old BMW the difference was stark.

I have wanted a 5th Gen forever, as I recently sold my 02 Z28 M6.

I wanted to be impressed!!!

I heard the infamous clunk, cabin noise was awful, the radio looked like something from a rental car.

I have to have one!!!

YMMV,

Also no offense but how do you go from a LS1 catfish to a 5th gen and complain about cabin noise, and the radio? In 2002 the LS1 f-bodies had a 20 year old interior that rattled like a box of legos.

bmw cost a fortune when they go wrong.
i'de never own one..like all german cars they are over engineered...ok when in the warranty period but a nightmare out of warranty.i've seen too many people get hit with huge repair bills.

I've got like a 25k budget so it's not likely I'll be able to upgrade to a 1le or zl1 and I'm pretty good with cars so the maintenance for the bmw wouldn't be a problem

Vanos would be the only potential problem..

buddy of mine has a 335i and he let me drive it. I would take my 1le over that any day. You cant beat the sound and low end torque of the ls3. Dont get me wrong its a nice car and handles well but I think the 1le handles better but thats just my opinion.

this. the e46 m3 is the perfect sized car, and it is waaay more fun to drive than a regular SS.

Leaning towards the m3, I'm just really tired of how heavy the Camaro is

Love the E36 but way underpowered and super expensive to maintain/repair. If you want something "lighter" feeling and better handling you could look at a base c6 in your price range. Unless you need a back seat

if youre trying to stay 6cyl then e46 but if youre going v8 then the SS or an e92 M3 should be the choices for you.

EDIT: didnt see your budget I would highly recommend that you get a 335i bolt ons and tune its a straight high 11s car ( brother have one) . its 500+lbs lighter than the ss too. and also TURBAHHH!!!!!! lol

Corvette. If you don't need a back seat, why have one?
