Playing CDs

Anyone have suggestions on playing CDs? As we know there are no more factory CD players. Either Sd cards or MP3. Anyone can tell me which is the best one? Thanks

I don't know what's "best", but I put about 800 songs in MP3 format onto a single SD card. Said card has been in the console SD card slot since I picked up my Stingray, and I haven't heard the same song twice yet. And gone is the hassle of dealing with a stack of bulky CDs!

I think you'll enjoy the new setup once you get used to it.

I am a musician by occupation and very selective and specific in my listening when I find something that interests me I tend to listen to it over and over sometimes for weeks or even months. Aside from al the vinyl and cassettes I have boxes of CD's. I really would like a CD player so that I can play exactly what I want to hear when I want to hear it which could mean 1 piece, movement, song or whatever as many times as I like. I miss not having a CD player in my BOSE on my 2LT so how do I get a reliable CD player hooked into this system ?

I don't know about a CD player install, but I do know you can hit "Rewind" at the end of a song and have it play again from the SD card, very much like any CD player. I've done it countless times myself on long road trips.

I have ripped about 10 CD's to an SD card with no problems. Now I am getting a message that the CD is write protected and will not copy to my SD card. I have tried a couple of ways to by pass the write protection with no luck. What software did you use to copy your CD's

I used iTunes to rip my CDs to my computer. I was then able to just copy & paste the song files I wanted to the SD card. You should also be able to make up play lists in iTunes and copy those to the SD card. Other high-quality music software should work just as well, though I doubt the freebie built-in versions on your computer will be as user -friendly.

It is possible there are some CDs out there that have such heavy copy protections that you won't be able to rip them, but I suspect those are quite rare.

Thanks for the information. I read on the web that some older SD cards might not work. Brought a new SD card, so far so good.

Since the system is based on "Open Source Software" have you tried an external CD with a CD in it? I don't have one or I would give it a try for you but you never know it might work, if you get one of the real slim ones that are powered by the USB it might work in the center console or maybe behind the display.
