2015 exhaust options - simpler approach?
My wife bought a nice 2015 RS V6 and is complaining about the lack of exhaust sound. I know Mustangs inside and out, but haven't worked on Camaros except in my youth on a '71 and '82.
There are a lot of threads for folks trying to find nice deep tone and no drone or rasp. My guess is one kit isn't enough, although I'm tempted to try the Corsa catback based on ONE video I've seen on YouTube. What's the simplest approach that will have a decent sound at throttle but no drone. Drone is the enemy for us two older folks. Thanks in advance. Our driveway: |

I have the Solo cat-back. I had my dealer install it. Fantastic sounding like it should have come from the factory.
Sound clips in my mod journal below, post #36.

Check out the MRT V2 system, quiet going down the road with no drone, but sounds real good when you get on it.

I run the Borla axle back, no other exhaust mods. I get compliments all the time on the sound. It took a couple weeks before it sounded the way it does now- at first it didn't seem different but now it sounds great.

I like my exhaust, i have a resonated x-pipe (Magnaflow part# 11386) and a muffler delete. gets a lot of compliments and has no drone.

hearing your exhaust is not drone. drone will make you feel like your head is going to explode. the resonated x-pipe is known to cure drone which is why so many people with the mrt mufflers end up adding them.

I really appreciate the feedback folks. Again, I'm just looking for one package and the Solo kit, Corsa cat back and Borla axle back. I'm not looking for custom cutting if possible (I assume these packages and others just bolt in) as I want to do this on stands in the garage.
Thanks again. more comments welcome if you have them! |

yea a cat back is the only simple bot-on option. axle backs require cutting.

At 75mph, you can still talk in a normal voice, but you definitely hear the exhaust note. I'm overall very happy with the setup, it's a bolt on and doesn't drone or sound raspy (at least to my ears). I got a great deal on it with no tax and free shipping from one of the vendors here on Gen5. JMHO, Tim |

If you want a straight bolt on that will give you good sound and no drone then your best option is the Solo cat back in my opinion.

I had this on my 1LS and yes it sounds amazing. I even took out the J pipes cause it kinda muffle the exhaust note. Yes there was some drone in 6th Gears going 70mph but my solution to that was to go faster. After 85mph there was no drone. And since it is a complete catback system it is worth it.

The Solo cat-back sounds even better with the Solo high-flow cats.
