Spark plug wire keeps popping off

Hi all,
Everytime I jump on my car, the spark plug wire next to the dipstick pops off. This is after my header install. And it is a tight fit with the heat protective boot on there. Any ideas of how to keep the plug wire on?

Ive been having the same issue. Mine keeps coming loose and then i get the Stabilitrak light, plug wire is seated completely just comes loose.

I get the same thing. Every time I jump on it. If I drive normal, it has no problem.....
Maybe time for new plug wires????

I havent gotten on it since putting on my headers. Mine comes loose after about 5-10 minutes of driving. I hope i dont need new plug wires, i only have 7000 miles on the car.

Aren't new wires pretty cheap? Probably worth a shot. Who knows, may be surprised and it fixes the issue!

Post a picture and who's headers? Did you try revving it and watching? Swap it with another wire to see if the problem moves. If you only had a dyno to run it on and observe.

plug wires that ours are : are short, therefore its extremely crucial you have the wire oriented as close to straight from the plug to the coil who cares if its not at a completely horizontal line..and you can twist the orientation to make it not twisted..and you may want to move that one wire to another plug as they are all the same. You can inspect inside the boot for the appearance ....that one wire just has to stretch.....

I had that issue with the factory plug wires. Not sure why though. I ended up getting some Taylor 10 mm wires from Summit Racing and have not had any problems since.

I had that problem 40 years ago--can't remember which car--but I crimped the connector to make it fit tighter. I can't remember (one of the problems of getting older) if I crimped it through the boot or pulled it out, crimped it, and shoved in back in the boot, but either way it worked. These were Accel yellow wires--supposedly the best you could get then.

From what I have read, it could be a loose plug, bad seal on the plug, or a cracked plug. Letting the compression out and blowing off the wire.

It's caused by a loose crimp on the electrode or on the coil pack, and a tight boot fit. The air trapped inside the boot heats up and pushes enough to pop it off if the crimp isn't tight. Also, if the crimp isn't tight, it can cause a misfire. Had the former happen to be years ago on a 240Z small black Chevy conversion. Looked at all the possible causes, but overlooked the simplest. May not be your issue, but it was mine. I know the for of the plug wire on our coils is tight.

Going to replace plugs and wires. Just ordered a set of JBA wires. I hope they are as good as advertised. Never had anything JBA....lol
