I used to drive all over the back roads of Oregon for my job, visiting wood product mills in the mountains. I would pass these defunct mom & pop gas stations in the most out of the way places and stop and usually take a pic or two.

I got the idea to make a coffee table book called "The Disappearing Mom & Pop" and then spent a year on putting it together, researching history, asking locals about them, etc. only to find out it had been done! ARGH! My dad sent me to a link where someone had a book with a very similar title already for sale. Talk about stealing my thunder!

Wow bro that's pretty cool! But yeah, talk about stealing your thunder, that bites for sure. But at least you did your OWN!! That counts.
