"Shift Denied" From 5-6

Hey guys,

New here. I recently bought a 2014 SS with the A6 transmission. After romping around for a while I noticed my trans temp gets close to 210. I'm not sure if this is causing the issue but when I try to tapshift from 5th to 6th in manual mode, it says "shift denied". and it's not because i'm at too low of RPMs, I've tested it at different speeds. Even if I put it back into S mode or D, it will stay in 5th gear, even going 80+mph.
This has happened once before and it was only after I was getting on it for a while and my trans temp went up around 210. I drove to where I was headed. Parked. Got back in it a few hours later and didn't encounter the issue again until just now.
Has anyone else experienced this? Should I be worried?

Thanks in advance.

First thing I would do is drop the pan and change fluid and filter, but you might need to get the trans checked by a shop if the car itself isn't shifting.

Okay, it's strange because it's only happened twice and goes away as soon as it's parked for a little while. Driving to work this morning, it was perfectly fine.

Also looking into transmission coolers, if anyone has suggestions. The AMD seemed popular but it looks like they don't sell them anymore.

When I leave work and get on the HWY/Freeway my car takes a mile or so before it will make the 5-6 shift.

I think the tcm needs to see a certain temp first.

The opposite is probably true as well with high temps and your from AZ.

I would mount a quality after market trans cooler to help with those extreme temps.

Then get a trans flush and fill with some nice new Dex 6

The TCM has different shift points in Sport and Regular mode also if cruise control is used or not. It also has different shift points at a certain tranny temp. You might reached that temperature limit settings which is denying that shift in question. I don't have my laptop in front of me, but I can check when I have a second.

Difference is size/cooling capacity and connection types.

These are not custom for the camaro bolt-ons. You will have to come up with your own mounting and hoses/connections.

This is what I sort of followed for my install. I did cut the barbed ends off and convert it to an lines with a 3/8 to an compression style fitting.
